SPORTS IN CALELLA

DIVING

Calella de Palafrugell has a very rich and well-preserved sea bed. Few kilometers from the Calella's coast, we can find the Illes Formigues (the Isles of the Ants), a place where several ships wrecked in ancient times.

If you enjoy diving, we recommend you the Poseidon Nemrod Diving Club, placed in the beach Port Pelegrí.

   Visit the Diving Club's site:

PITCH AND PUTT

In Gualta, a town 30 min. from Calella de Palafrugell, there is a Pitch and Putt resort where you can practice this sport similar to golf.

EXCURSIONS ON FOOT AND BY BIKE

If you enjoy nature, you will like to discover the coast of Calella, Llafranc and Tamariu from a different point of view following the camins de ronda (walking paths around the coast). There exists a wide net of marked paths that you can follow on foot or by bike. From these old paths, you will enjoy amazing views of the Costa Brava.

CUISINE

THE STALL MARKET

There is a daily market in Palafrugell where you will be able to find the best fish, meat, fruits and vegetables of the region.

Moreover, on Sunday, Palafrugell becomes a very lively town due to the weekly open market, where you can find all sort of products: from clothes to the finest food.

GAROINES (Sea Urchins)

From January to March, many restaurants in Palafrugell prepare several delicious dishes using sea urchins as the main ingredient. However, if you do not like cooking but want to try our garoines, you can eat them raw on a slice of bread with botifarra negra (black pork sausage).

DRINKING CREMAT ON THE BEACH

The cremat is a very typical sailor's drink in the Costa Brava. It is a mixture of rum and coffee, which is flamed until it gains its special aroma and becomes alcohol-free.

PA AMB TOMÀQUET

One of the most surprising Catalan specialties is Pa amb Tomàquet. This dish is as tasty as easy to prepare. You only need some bread, tomatoes, olive oil and salt. Spread the pulp of the tomato on a slice of bread, pour as much olive oil as you like, add some salt and Bon Profit! (as we say in Catalan, Have a nice meal!)

You can also accompany this dish with a good Manchego cheese or Spanish ham.
